On February 17, Congress passed an extension of unemployment insurance. While the extension of benefits is good news for families, we are disappointed in the decision to attack federal workers in the process.  These benefits are critical during a time of high unemployment when families are struggling to make ends meet. Unfortunately, these benefits now come at a steep price for many. Not only does the new legislation reduce the number of weeks people can receive benefits, it also attacks federal workers’ pensions. Attacking those less fortunate while not asking corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share is not the answer.  Working America will continue to advocate for working families to fight back against these unfair provisions.
