House Republicans Propose $2.5 Trillion in Spending Cuts

A group of conservative House Republicans presented a plan to drastically cut government spending over the next ten years. The plan takes aim at everything from Amtrak to housing subsidies, to the National Endowment for the Arts and totals $2.5 trillion.

The plan was presented by the Republican Study Group, a conservative caucus, and is not yet endorsed by Republican leadership. The group is notably silent on entitlements and defense spending. From Politico,

All told, it adds up to $2.5 trillion in cuts, whacking 55 different agencies and programs, including public housing, benefits for federal employees, funding for the arts and humanities and international aid.

Many of the proposed cuts represent longtime conservative targets, like the National Endowment for the Arts and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. They also would gut a wide range of energy and environmental programs — like weatherization and beach erosion funds — and have proposed clamping down on federal employee unions.

The plan also cuts funds for the District of Columbia, including subsidies for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

Democrats are not enthusiastic about the proposed cuts and outlined the important programs that would lose workers and funding in the Washington Post,

According to Democratic estimates, cuts of that magnitude – if applied across the board – would require the Justice Department to fire 4,000 FBI agents and 1,500 agents at the Drug Enforcement Administration. The federal prison system would have to fire 5,700 correctional officers, the Agriculture Department would have to cut about 3,000 food safety inspectors, and the Head Start early-childhood education program would be forced to cut about 389,000 children from its rolls.

Of course kids should be deprived of highly effective programs that help them learn and be more productive throughout their lives in order to fund more tax cuts for millionaires. What would you rather have, a healthy educated population or yachts? It’s a lot more fun to sip a martini on a yacht than on a flotilla of healthy kids.

    DEBT RESPONSIBILITY
Since 1980 three so-called Conservative presidents
    have this record

    Debt is 14,000 Billion.
    Republicans created 12,000 of it.

9000 directly charged to the Big Three (Reagan 1700—Bush I 1300—Bush II 6000)
3000 charged indirectly as a result of their policies and actions.
Of that 3000—1000 Clinton paid in interest on their Debt
and 2000 Obama has paid for (Bush Tax cuts—Bush two wars-Bush Great Recession).

From 1945 to 1981, each President worked to pay off WWII Debt
and had it down to 907B

Reagan began the Conservative Spend and Borrow Let Our Kids Pay Tomorrow
via policies of intervention in foreign affairs—huge tax cuts for the rich
which reduce revenues—let Wall Street wealthy gamblers go unregulated.

Those three over 20 years created 99,000 net new jobs per month or just enough to cover new entries into the work force. Carter + Clinton created 222,000 per month over 12 years. From 1921 to 2003 the Republican presidents had more years in office but created only 800,000 jobs per year compared to Democratic presidents with 1,800,000. On each domestic issue the Democratic presidents have, by far, the best record. Republicans can run only on Values not Issues. Their ideology gave us the Great Depression and Great Recession. Exact same policies.

Will they ruin America? In 2011, they control the Major Corporations, Major Media, Wealth and Income. They had Total Control of our government for (2001-2006) six years and their belief in unrestricted Gambling came close to destroying the world’s economy..

Their ideology, as in 1920s, created the Great Recession as a result of Housing Tsunami, and Financial Volcano. Cut taxes for the rich, increase money supply, lower interest rates and encourage gambling on Wall Street. That is why, since the Great Depression, they have been called the Country Club Party.
The new name is WSP Wall Street Party. Their true God has always been $$$$$$$$$$$. Their promotion of Values has been a diversionary tactic to keep attention off their failed Issues policies.
What have the done to improve the Standard of Living of the Middle Class???
They talk Values but do not live them. They are phonies. They support pathological liars. The worse the better. They worship Mush Dimbaugh and his 10,000 lies (documented) over 4,000 hours.

What is worrisome, is that there is no mention of SS reform or Medicare cuts. Once again they have put nothing in writing that would offend the GOP base and especially, they have shielded themselves from advocating cuts in SS and Medicare against senior backlash. Remember Obama’s commission came out first and furious with protecting SS by making cuts and increasing retirement age. So, if the issue comes up: It will be the dems who want to hurt seniors, not the GOP. Actually, to the general public these proposed cuts look okay and the GOP looks avoids political ramifications, once again.

I disagree with these on going cuts, they still insist in getting their perks and salaries, it’s probably one of the reasons we’re in so much trouble.
