Health care costs taking a toll
by Justin Geiger—Michigan

The night before Halloween I was out knocking in a mobile home community in Westland, MI. The woman who answered the door asked what I was doing. I told her I was recruiting members for Working America and making sure all people have health care. She enthusiastically grabbed the clipboard and began signing up. She mentioned that it cost $250 every two weeks to provide health care coverage for her daughter and herself, and this was causing her great financial hardship. She then reached in her purse and handed me a five, saying she wished she could give more. She said ”I hope all families will have health care one day” and encouraged me to keep fighting for the people.

I’m self employed. I have a small office with 2 staff. I pay for (100%) Health Insurance and my wife’s. It is good health insurance, but it costs over $650 per month PER PERSON.
This is going to kill the country. It is time the Government started providing health care (not insurance). The costs are out of control.
